My BioWaveGO is turned on and all it does is beep and blink orange lights.

Answer: Please make sure that the lead wire cable is firmly connected to the BioWaveGO unit, firmly connected to the two Pain relief pads and that the Pain relief pads have good adhesion to the skin.

I cannot get the BioWaveGO and my cellphone to pair.

Answer: Make sure the Bluetooth function is turned on, on your smartphone> Next, connect the BioWaveGO unit to your body and then turn it on. Next open the app. For iPhones the phone will beep and ask you to click on a PAIR button; for Android phones you should hear a beep and your phone will have automatically paired with your BioWaveGO unit.

The electrodes (pads) are not sticking to my skin.

Answer: It is important that the skin is cleaned prior to placing the Pads on the skin. Rub the skin vigorously with a slightly damp towel, in the two areas the Pads will be placed. Note: Skin should be dry and intact prior to placing the Pads on the skin. If the Pads are not tacky, please use a new set of Pads.

Is BioWave a TENS unit?

Mechanisms of Action – TENS vs BioWave (FOR PHYSICIANS)

TENS low-frequency signals cannot pass through skin because of the skin’s impedance. As a result, TENS creates a twitching sensation at the surface of skin which MAY act as a distraction to the patient’s pain. When the TENS signal is removed, there is little residual benefit to the patient. This mechanism of action is known as Gate Control Theory.

BioWave utilizes a summed high-frequency signal technology that passes through skin directly to nociceptive pain fibers.  The charge at the surface of the pain fibers causes a multiplication of the high-frequency signals resulting in a low-frequency electric field that encompasses the pain fibers and interrupts action potential propagation along C-fibers, inhibiting the transmission of pain signals to the brain.  The electrical field also induces hypoesthesia on A-delta fibers creating a light numbness surrounding the pain site. This primary mechanism of action is known as Frequency Conduction Block Theory. As a result, a 30-minute duration treatment can provide up to 24 hours of continued pain relief and functional improvement. In addition to blocking the pain signal, BioWave can help reduce inflammation because there is increased blood flow in the region being treated beneath and surrounding each electrode.  Increased blood flow results not from vasoldilation, rather components of blood have a charge associated with them and when a charged particle enters an electrical field it is accelerated through the field. The increased blood flow can help reduce inflammation and increase the rate of healing with multiple treatments over time if a particular pain condition can benefit from the increased blood flow. However, if pain is resulting from a structural issue like osteoarthritis, the BioWave electrical field is not going to regrow cartilage and may have no healing effect on the joint but can still be beneficial in terms of managing pain, increasing range of motion and reducing stiffness.
